I’ve noticed this can sometimes cause the stuttering to come back. If you switched to Windowed Mode and it’s still on your monitor, use your start button + arrow keys on your keyboard to move the window onto your HMDĭON’T ALT-TAB OUT. If the game is in VR mode but is displaying on your monitor, switch to windowed mode
Also do this for the Source 2013 SDK (Singleplayer), just to be safe.

If you cannot activate VR mode, try the following: right-click the HL2 VR mod you chose earlier, click ‘Properties’, and uncheck ‘Use Desktop Game Theatre while SteamVR is active’.
